Almond Milk

(Submitted by Tara Schapers, Organic Connection Manager - Bulk Department)

1 cup raw almonds

pure water

● Place 1 cup of almonds in a mason jar and fill to the top with pure water. Place screen over top of jar and secure with jar band.

● Soak for 8-12 hours.

● Keeping almonds in jar, pour out all soak water. Fill jar again and rinse almonds. Do this twice. Nuts & seeds contain growth inhibitors, so if briefly moistened, they won’t sprout prematurely.

● After rinsing, place the almonds in a heavy duty blender (VitaMix recommended), with 6 cups of water. Blend on high for 3-4 minutes. Strain the mixture through a cheese cloth or fine strainer into a jar. Refrigerate. Use less water for thicker milk. Will keep in fridge for 2-3 days. Sweeten w/ vanilla, honey, maple syrup
